Ahmad Toussaint says he chose St. Lawrence mainly because of the generous financial aid package the University offered him and the opportunity to attend a college in a rural environment.

Toussaint, who enjoys reading poetry and music lyrics as well as listening to music, has been a three-year starter at point guard for the basketball team. He says he is looking forward to the season, “because of the talent on the team and the opportunity to win a conference championship.”

Hailing from a diverse urban area, Toussaint has lent his experience to the M ulticultural Alliance of Northern New York . He meets with faculty, students and others regularly to discuss cultural issues involving people of color. Another organization Toussaint is active with, the Investment Club, is aimed at students who are interested in careers on Wall Street or with financial consulting firms. The club teaches students about investing and personal finance.

Toussaint says, “I enjoy being with my fellow students as well as the faculty and staff. Professors are willing to meet with you outside of class and they give you individual attention.” Asked what else he likes best about St. Lawrence, he replies, “The new senior townhouses and the low student to faculty ratio.”
