One of my favorite things about St. Lawrence is the faculty
and staff with whom I have formed a close bond. Ever since I
arrived
on campus they have been a great support to me and helped me
to achieve everything that I have.
I interned with St. Lawrence alumnus Harry Bramley, a pediatrician
in York, PA. He was most willing to let me experience what I
wanted to; he was so
impressed that I wanted to spend part of my summer in a hospital. He let me
interview children with diabetes for a book he’s writing – and
he invited me to writing the Foreword. I gained early admission
to Upstate Medical College
in Syracuse and will be heading there after graduation, with plans to become
a pediatrician.
With the University’s support, I recently founded the Leadership
for the Future group in order to get students more involved in campus activities
earlier during their time at St. Lawrence. My hope is to conduct programs helping
students learn how to get summer internships.
I have a motto that I feel shapes my attitude towards all of my experiences
at St. Lawrence: ‘Excellence is the result of caring more than others think
is wise; risking more than others think is safe; dreaming more than others think
is practical; and expecting more than anyone thinks is possible.’
