Kwabena Osei-kisu says that his involvement with the off-campus
community has strongly influenced his positive experience at
St. Lawrence. He attends services at local churches, performs
in concerts at area schools (playing the conga), and enjoys the
scenery of Lampson falls. He has also gone to three square dances
in the area and has seen a number of professors dancing with
their families. He says that the region offers a surprising array
of interesting activities.
Osei-kisu's involvement with the local community reflects his
participation in many aspects of St. Lawrence life. A typical
Tuesday involves taking two economics classes, playing squash
with the economics department chair, squeezing in his econometrics
homework, and still having time to spend two hours working with
students from the introductory economics class for which he serves
as a teaching assistant.
“If you are driven and hungry for new opportunities to expand your
interests, then St. Lawrence is the right place for you,” says
Osei-kisu. “The amount of attention I receive from the faculty
and staff at St. Lawrence makes it clear that my progress matters
to the University. I believe this is the key to St. Lawrence's
success.”
