“St. Lawrence is perfect for me because of its small-town,
family-like atmosphere,” says Paul Ohri. “There’s
always someone to talk to.” As a member of many organizations
that open dialog on campus about issues that are easy to overlook,
Ohri is considered by many to be one of those people to talk
to. He also points out that professors, tutors, writing mentors,
and teaching assistants are helpful resources that should be
used by everyone throughout campus.
Ohri also expresses his thoughts and feelings while he studies
studio art and art history. “Art is relaxing and calming;
it’s not a class to me, but a state of mind,” he
says. He has studied in Florence, Italy, in order to learn more
about art, history, and another culture.
“I never thought that I could go to a private college,” he
says. “My high school guidance counselor persuaded me pursue
it and HEOP made it possible. In the future I hope that I can
offer someone like me an opportunity like this.”
