“Gifts are given to different people to do different
things,” says Aaron Marshall. “I want to make the
most out of what I have so I like to participate in as much as
I can on campus.”
Named to the ECAC Division III Upstate
All-Star Second Team for basketball and the holder of the St.
Lawrence record for field
goal percentage with 67.5%, Marshall also plays drums and does
vocals for the band Casual Fiasco. The band usually does campus
gigs, but often times plays locally and recently did a fundraiser
for a girl with leukemia. We wanted to do something different,” Marshall
said. “We thought, ‘We can help them afford the medical
bills.’”
Marshall works with the Diversity Coalition,
which he says is “A
group that comes together to talk about and help promote diversity
and to develop strategies to ease the problems surrounding diversity.” He
is looking to expand his work with the coalition to the athletic
department with his basketball coach, Chris Downs. Marshall explains, “Many
people complain, what can athletes do? We want to expand the
diversity group across campus and create a day of diversity promoted
by athletes.”
