Kate Leavitt transferred to St. Lawrence in the fall of her
sophomore year having started at nearby Clarkson University,
but wanted a more liberal arts education at a smaller institution. “I
like the friendly atmosphere and the individual attention that
students get here,” says Leavitt. “St. Lawrence has
an amazing sense of community, and I think that is very important.”
Leavitt chose St. Lawrence because of the career opportunities
and alumni connections available, as well as the variety of opportunities
on campus. One that Leavitt has especially enjoyed is her sorority,
Chi Omega, where she served as president for a term. “It
was one of the best experiences I’ve had at St. Lawrence,” says
Leavitt. “Every member is like family to me.”
Next year, Leavitt is planning either to attend graduate school
to earn an MBA, or pursue a career. “If I don’t go
directly to graduate school, I’m hoping to get a job where
I can apply the education I’ve acquired at St. Lawrence,” says
Leavitt. “St. Lawrence has been the perfect stepping stone
into the world or work and post-graduate study.”
