Growing
up in Kenya, I always dreamed of becoming an aeronautical engineer.
I want to build airplane engines and frames. My strong foundation
in physics and mathematics at St. Lawrence has helped give me continued
confidence in my ability to do this after graduation.
Using grants from St. Lawrence, I did an internship at the aviation
department of the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF)
Flying Doctors Service in Nairobi. It was a wonderful hands-on experience.
As a St. Lawrence University Fellow, I collaborated on a research
project with two professors last summer, modeling and investigating
the properties of different types of circuits.
Living in 'I-House' (International House) and being its Community
Assistant has been a very pleasant experience. I have learned to
mingle with people from different cultures, made many new friends
and gained a better understanding of and tolerance for diversity.
I plan to study for a semester at McGill University in Montreal,
Canada, where I will take some engineering classes and I hope learn
some French.
St. Lawrence offers many opportunities to have fun outside of class.
I nurture my love for music and dancing through the Sinners a cappella
group and the Dance Ensemble. Both groups put on performances every
semester on campus.
