Besides her demanding academic, athletic and outdoor activities,
Hochstatter is also involved in planning for the new science
facilities on campus.
After working with Professor Tom Greene as his Environmental
Psychology teaching assistant since her first year, Hochstatter
joined Greene on the Science Facilities Planning Board as the
student representative. She sat on the architect selection committee,
serves on the executive committee, and is the chairperson of
the student planning committee. Hochstatter says she is very
interested in architecture and sustainable design, which is a
big reason she chose the majors that she did.
“One thing that I can say about my experience at St. Lawrence is
that there is in no way a lack of opportunities or activities to
get involved in,” says Hochstatter. “Even as a senior, there are
still things that I wish I could spend more time doing, but I have
no regrets because I honestly cannot remember the last time I was
bored. Between my interests in art and design, the outdoors, people,
and my religious faith, I cannot imagine ever running out of things
to do.”
