“I live 45 minutes from campus, but because my home is
in Canada, I’m considered an international student,” laughs
Dana Hasson. “I’m closer to home than most students!”
Hasson chose to attend St. Lawrence because it was close to
her home, and because she liked the small-campus atmosphere. “I
played in many hockey tournaments at St. Lawrence growing up,
so it was familiar to me,” says Hasson. “I wanted
to go to a school that had a good reputation academically and
athletically. St. Lawrence was perfect.”
Being a member of the women’s hockey team for four years
was a very memorable experience for Hasson. “We played
with a lot of energy, heart and passion,” says Hasson.
In her senior year, the team advanced to the NCAA Division I “Frozen
Four,” winning the consolation game to finish ranked number
three in the nation.
Hasson plans to study either at Potsdam State or back at St.
Lawrence, to earn her Master’s in Education degree. She
looks forward to teaching either 4 th, 5 th or 6 th graders in
the future.
Hasson notes, “The friends I made at St. Lawrence are
what made my learning experience there the most worthwhile. Truly
great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible
to forget.”
