Name: Eloise Grout '07
Hometown: Portland, OR
Majors: Psychology and Spanish
Activities: Model UN, Omicron Delta Kappa honorary, Kappa Delta Sigma sorority, Reachout.

“I think you make your own opportunities in life,” Eloise Grout ’07 says about St. Lawrence and Canton. “I have found plenty of things to keep me busy and entertained here, and I will be studying on St. Lawrence’s program in Spain all next year.”

Its international programs were what initially attracted Grout to St. Lawrence. But she also wanted a school that would challenge her. The distance from home offered one challenge, and many changes.

“Some of my favorite memories here at St. Lawrence revolve around the friendships I’ve made,” Grout says. “We especially like to go to Lampson Falls, a nearby preserve, and other natural areas.”

Grout, feels lucky to have met such great friends at St. Lawrence and says this is the result of double-majoring and her involvement in so many organizations. She is involved in Model United Nations and Kappa Delta Sigma sorority, and this spring was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, an academic and leadership honorary society. On top of this she also volunteers at Reachout, a crisis center in Potsdam, NY, about 10 miles from Canton.

Grout is interested in the field of human resources because, she says, “I love working with people.” She plans on attending graduate school after college eventually, but would like to take a year off after graduation and live somewhere abroad.
