“St. Lawrence has provided me with an education that I
feel has prepared me to be successful not just in the college
classroom
but also in the real world,” says Jess Goodspeed. “It’s
easy to find a place where you can feel comfortable academically
or socially. I have been able to continue my interest in music
with the different Special Productions each semester, such as
Latin music and Baroque music. I’ve also been able to take
courses outside my major and minor, such as Public Speaking and
Musics of the World.”
Goodspeed has found Greek life at
St. Lawrence to be an extremely valuable experience as well. “It’s
been a wonderful way for me to meet new people and to expose
myself to many aspects of the St. Lawrence community that
I would not have tried,” Goodspeed says. She adds that without her sorority
she never would have played broomball on the Appleton Arena ice, or gotten
involved in the Canton community through service programs.
“I intend
to continue my education in the graduate program in counseling,” she
says. “I’m interested in a career in education and counseling at
the high school level.”
