Major: Sociology
Hometown: Rye, NY
Activities: Managing Editor for The Hill News (student newspaper),
Senior Class Gift Committee
At The Hill News I manage all the business aspects of our weekly
student newspaper and helped work toward electronic submission
to our printer. My experience has given me skills that I can
use in my business career, including communication skills and
contacts that I’ll use throughout my future endeavors.
I have a mild learning disability and muscular dystrophy. Thanks
to the outstanding help of Director of Accommodative Services
John Meagher, I’m a successful student. And I’ve
made some wonderful friends whose support and understanding have
made an immense difference.
I chose St. Lawrence because I found
the accommodations and attitudes that would most likely allow
me to succeed in a normal college
environment. St. Lawrence has been a place of generosity, helpfulness
and cooperation, as long as I do my part. It’s easy to
become known here.
I went to St. Lawrence because I thought I’d
find a warm and friendly atmosphere, and I did—people care.
I’m
sad to leave it behind because it’s provided me with a
strong community environment while I’ve learned the necessary
skills to be successful in life.
After graduation I will enter
a professional training program, leading to an account executive
position upon completion, at
Marsh USA Inc., a leader in risk management and insurance brokerage
services based in Melville, N.Y.
