| Rance Davis
Associate Dean of Student Life and Co-Curricular Education,
Director Multi-Cultural Affairs & Judicial Officer
After graduating from St. Lawrence in 1980, Rance Davis earned
his master’s degree from the University in 1982. He started
his professional career at St. Lawrence in 1991, at the University’s
counseling services office. He later became director of the University’s
multicultural affairs department, in 1998 was named the University’s
judicial officer and in 2003 was promoted to associate dean.
Davis
believes that St. Lawrence offers a “top-quality experience” that
will transcend a student’s graduation. “This is a place
that allows students to think, grow, develop and take risks,” states
Davis, adding that St. Lawrence is also a place where “students
are respected as members of a community.” He feels passionately
about allowing students not only the opportunity to receive an
education, but also giving them the chance to develop emotionally
and spiritually as well.
Davis is continually addressing the challenges
of increasing diversity at St. Lawrence. He feels that at the same
time he is able to offer
guidance to those students who are struggling with any aspect of
life. He says, “I do this because it is my passion to see
young people be successful.” Davis believes that the University’s “student-centered
philosophy” aids in enhancing the students’ experiences.
