 John Bursnall:
Associate Professor

John Bursnall chairs the geology department at St. Lawrence. His areas of specialization include structural geology; tectonics; metamorphic and igneous petrology; deep crustal structure in the Canadian Shield; Northern Appalachian structure and tectonics; multiply deformed terranes; and fault rocks. He received his doctorate in geology from the University of Cambridge in 1975, and arrived at St. Lawrence in 1989.
Brett Harvey, a 2002 graduate and environmental studies/geology combined major from Bethel, Maine, says, “Dr. Bursnall is totally interested in his students. His door is always open for students to drop by and get extra help.”
