Bursnall:
Associate Professor
John Bursnall chairs the geology department at St. Lawrence. His
areas of specialization include structural geology; tectonics; metamorphic
and igneous petrology; deep crustal structure in the Canadian Shield;
Northern Appalachian structure and tectonics; multiply deformed
terranes; and fault rocks. He received his doctorate in geology
from the University of Cambridge in 1975, and arrived at St. Lawrence
in 1989.
Brett Harvey, a 2002 graduate and environmental studies/geology
combined major from Bethel, Maine, says, “Dr. Bursnall is
totally interested in his students. His door is always open for
students to drop by and get extra help.”
