honorary, officer of the Laurentian Singers, admissions management
assistant/tour guide, Developmental Psychology lab student worker
Don Evans '04 says he chose to enroll at St. Lawrence because
of the student relationships. From the moment he arrived, he
has found it easy to get to know an array of people through the
different activities in which he is involved.
Evans is conducting a senior research project in neuroscience
with Peter Cain, assistant professor of psychology. He is studying
the fear responses displayed in fish. Although Evans will not
benefit from the University's science facilities expansion and
renovation, he states, “Those fortunate to be accepted in the
next couple of years should definitely take advantage of all
the additions that are on the way. The science space is going
to grow by a third. I'm pretty bummed that I will not be here
to see the amazing new facilities.”
Among Evans' most memorable St. Lawrence experiences are his
Spring Break trips with the Laurentian singers, especially to
San Francisco. Evans also spent summer on campus, working in
the psychology department and the admissions office. He says, “SLU
in the summer is a treat that not many on campus take advantage
of. I had a wonderful time here with no one around but a few
of my closest friends.”
“As a student, the most appealing thing to me about SLU is its
rural location,” says Evans. “Students create many of their own
activities on campus.”
