Several factors influenced my decision to come to St. Lawrence. On my first visit I fell in love with the campus. It really is beautiful. The people I met on that first day were open and friendly and that had a lasting impact on my decision to come here.

I applied to several universities in Ontario, all with over 16,000 students. So when I came to SLU I was astonished at the small class sizes. I was amazed that the teacher-to-student atmosphere was similar to that of high school. Because the student population is only about 2000 students, there is a good chance of seeing someone I know as I walk to class or to a meeting. Seeing familiar faces makes the University a much more comfortable place to be.

Before coming to St. Lawrence I planned to be an engineering major. However, St. Lawrence helped me realize that I don't want to be an engineer, I want to be a diplomat.

The other aspect of St. Lawrence is its peaceful setting. I grew up on a Christmas tree farm, and although I have lived in a city, my heart is in the country. St. Lawrence was the only school I applied to that offered this environment.
