| St. Lawrence
has helped me to discover my true interests and let me focus on
and develop in those specific areas. Before coming here, I had
little idea as to what I wanted to study. But, after taking several
courses in many different areas, I realized that writing is one
of my true passions. The professors here have the ability to interest
students and to draw on their talents, but at the same time offer
assistance towards improvement in all areas.
St. Lawrence funds numerous activities in which students can
take part. This semester we've had bands and various speakers
come to campus. It's a great way for students to interact and
to get to know each other. A few weeks ago, I participated in
Peak Weekend, an Outing Club-sponsored event in which teams of
students try to climb all 46 4,000-foot peaks in the Adirondacks
on the same day. For the first time in several years we succeeded
in placing teams on every summit. It was really exciting to see
so many students get involved in such a fun but challenging campus-wide
event.
Living in a small community for four years has really taught
me how to open up to people and has greatly improved my communication
skills. It's amazing how close you can become with people in such
a close-knit environment. St. Lawrence has provided me with so
much that I will use after I graduate. This place has been great
for me both socially and academically and I will always enjoy
looking back on my years here in Canton. |
