“You take a deep breath and then you get on the plane,” says
Stefi Anton ’04, in describing going to college in America
from her home in Bucharest, Romania. “I wanted a college
in the United States because there is such a wide variety of
opportunities,” says Anton, who learned of St. Lawrence
through college guidebooks and then discovered the generous financial
aid packages given to international students.
“I’ve tried to make the most of every opportunity
I’ve had at St. Lawrence,” says Anton, “and
it couldn’t have worked out better.” When she arrived,
she knew she wanted to pursue a career in economics, but wasn’t
aware of all the other options. “Economics is still what
I enjoy doing the most,” she says. “I’ve realized
you’re best at doing what you enjoy.
“I’ve loved my time here,” says Anton. “I’ve
met amazing people who have had such a great influence on me,
especially my friends in the International House and my professors.”
Next year, Anton will be working in New York City for Credit
Suisse First Boston, as an analyst in international equity sales. “I
hope I’ll get a chance to travel!” she says.
