Profession: Senior Vice President and Regional

Hometown: Delmar, NY
After visiting campus for the first time, Joe Richardson fell in
love with St. Lawrence and applied “early decision.”
At St. Lawrence he developed a special relationship with Loren Clute,
one of his economics professors. Through Clute’s mentorship,
Joe learned several lifelong lessons such as the importance of having
diversified hobbies and interests, being inquisitive, enjoying work,
and having a good work ethic. Joe also strengthened his communication
and writing skills. Throughout his 39 years in commercial banking,
these lessons have been integral to his success, Joe says.
As a result of his experiences at St. Lawrence, Joe is deeply dedicated
to giving back to SLU. He is actively involved in the Shadow-A-Saint
program and sponsors summer interns. He was also co-chair of his
Reunion Development Committee and is president of the Alumni Council.
As a “Laurentian for Life,” Joe is always impressed
by the connections among SLU alumni and the tradition of dedication
and giving by alumni to their alma mater.
