Director of Development and Alumni Affairs, Green Mountain Valley
School
When she was honored as St. Lawrence’s
Admissions Volunteer of the Year in 2004, it was said of Pam MacBrayne-Moonan ’70, “She
not only accepts every interview assignment in her area, Vermont,
and sometimes even out of her area, but also takes it upon herself
to recruit students on her own, interview them and then doggedly
track them to make sure their paperwork in order. She is a true
St. Lawrence devotee.”
MacBrayne-Moonan has also shown her devotion by serving on the
Alumni Council, as a fund-raising and class reunion volunteer,
and as an alumni club president--extensions of her involvement
in everything from campus publications to Greek life to the Outing
Club when she was a student.
When asked what has attached her to St. Lawrence for so many
years, she responds, “The people! From the moment I set foot
on campus as a prospective student, I was impressed with the friendliness
of the people. The relationships that I developed with students,
faculty and staff are not only the basis for fond memories but
also an important part of my life after St. Lawrence. I volunteer
in admissions because I loved St. Lawrence and want others to have
the same opportunities.”
“St. Lawrence showed me how important a college education
is,” she says. She spent 25 years in the University of Maine
system, working to expand college courses and programs to adult
students throughout rural Maine. In her current job, as Director
of Development and Alumni Affairs, Green Mountain Valley School
in Vermont, she says
“I find myself working with lots of different people every
day, and it's great.”
