St. Lawrence Trustee John Loughlin was named to his current position
in September 2002. The newly-formed business unit of Gemstar-TV
Guide International, Inc., contains all of TV Guide's print and
on-line businesses, including the TV Guide Magazine Group and TV
Guide Online(SM). John had been at Primedia, Inc., where he was
president and CEO of Primedia Consumer Media and Magazine Group
and an executive vice president of Primedia Inc. There, he led
one of the largest magazine publishing operations in the United
States, with over 150 magazine titles and Web sites including Seventeen,
American Baby, Motor Trend, New York Magazine and Soap Opera Digest.
He has an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
At St. Lawrence, John was president of the Thelomathesian Society,
the student government organization. A government and English double
major, he earned academic honors and was a member of the leadership
honorary Omicron Delta Kappa. He also participated in St. Lawrence’s
study program in Kenya.
As an alumnus, John has been very active. He has been a career
advisor to students, a fund-raising volunteer, a Reunion volunteer
and a member of the Alumni Executive Council. He and his wife,
Darlene, have two children.
