Alumni Council member Joellen Hornig says that one of her most
valuable memories of St. Lawrence is her semester in London . She
is especially grateful to the London Program for preparing her
for her career and inspiring her passion for travel.
“It was a year or two after I graduated from St. Lawrence that
I realized what an impact the four years that I spent there had
on my life,” she says. “The semester in London contributed to my
professional and personal growth, because not only did I visit
the city that I had always wanted to see, but I also learned how
to be out of my comfort zone and still have the most unforgettable
time. The cultural immersion that I underwent was an incredible
experience that helped me to learn more about myself and understand
myself better.
“The last four weeks of the semester were taken up by a full-time
internship,” says Hornig. “Mine allowed me to be exposed to
human resources, which is the profession that I have chosen. The
connections I made at CSFB, where I interned, helped me get my
second job out of college.
“I'd always wanted to travel but never had the opportunity,” Hornig
says. “Since my semester in London I have been to over 20 foreign
countries, and I don't plan to stop anytime soon! In fact,
I'm looking forward to going to Belize with friends from St. Lawrence
this spring.”
