| Jeffrey Honeywell ‘80
Hometown: Alexandria Bay, NY
Professional title: Attorney, Partner at Girvin
and Ferlazzo in Albany, NY
Growing up in Alexandria Bay on the St. Lawrence River, Jeff Honeywell
was very familiar with St. Lawrence University. He frequently played
hockey at Appleton Arena and in the Canton area. In addition, many
St. Lawrence graduates lived in his hometown of Alexandria Bay,
situated only an hour from Canton, and were strong advocates of
attending St. Lawrence.
Jeff says that he chose St. Lawrence as
a place of study because of its “excellent academic reputation.” He
attended St. Lawrence on an ROTC scholarship and majored in government
with
a goal to become a lawyer. He also completed a minor in sociology,
ran the intramural hockey program, worked for the student radio
station, participated in student government, and was a College
Assistant. He also interned at the county district attorney and
public defender’s offices.
Jeff says that the diversity of
the liberal arts academic experience is the best part of St. Lawrence. “Long-lasting
relationships with professors are easily made because of the unique
community
atmosphere, which encourages close faculty-student interaction, ” he
says.
Aside from his law career as an attorney at a law firm in Albany,
New York, Jeff says he spends the majority of his time raising his
three teenage sons, with spouse Joanne Rotella Honeywell'80. He
also highlights his involvement in Boy Scouts, youth sports and
travel.
