Johnson Hall of Science Construction Progress: On Schedule and Looking Great!
From the outside looking in, the Johnson Hall of Science hasn't changed much in recent weeks but the insider's view is a very different and very exciting scene! Visit our new Construction Update page and see the progress as the detailing and installations move forward on schedule. The building will be completed by May and faculty will move over the summer to welcome students by fall semester.

 
St. Lawrence receives select grant for national ethics initiative
St. Lawrence University is one of 18 institutions chosen by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) to participate in its Core Commitments Leadership Consortium. The schools will lead the first phase of a national initiative, Core Commitments: Educating Students for Personal and Social Responsibility, which seeks to deepen students' sense of integrity, ethical obligations to self and to others, and responsibilities as citizens in a diverse democracy and interdependent world.For more
 
New endowed professorship has first appointment
Brian E. Chezum has been appointed to the R. Sheldon '68 and Virginia H. Johnson Professorship in Economics at St. Lawrence University.For more

Wall Street Journal cites SLU's Gava'07
Louise Gava '07, of Clifton Park, NY, is quoted in a story in the February 2 edition of The Wall Street Journal, about colleges that offer domestic programs that are similar to study abroad. Gava compared her experiences in the Adirondack Semester and study in St. Lawrence's Kenya program.

Hometown newspaper and astronomy newsletter publish features about Jamie Lomax'07's research
The North Creek News Enterprise
ran a feature story in its February 3 edition on astronomy research conducted by Jamie Lomax '07, of North Creek, NY, in Puerto Rico. Attorney honored by national magazine
The American Lawyer
has named Sean M. Murphy '91, a partner at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, as a "Fab 50 Young Litigator," an elite group of litigators whom the magazine recognizes as the top 50 litigators in the United States under age 45. Murphy, 37, is a securities litigator in the New York office of Milbank. For more

Teacher receives select national certification
Lorien Eck M'06, of Los Angeles, CA, has received certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). She is one of 7,700 teachers nationwide to achieve National Board Certification in 2006, and the only known St. Lawrence graduate to receive the certification. For more

Women's Basketball ends winning streak.
The St. Lawrence women's basketball team ran its record to 19-1, beating the school record for consecutive wins.
 

Men's hockey remains first in the ECACHL and earns ECACHL playoff bye. ,
They defeated Yale and Brown, the latter in overtime, this past weekend.

 
Women's hockey team clinches home ice for playoffs via a hard-fought 3-3 tie with Princeton University on Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at Appleton Arena.
 
St. Lawrence University's men's and women's track and field teams both took first place at the Liberty League Championships Saturday at Scott Field House in Clinton, N.Y. The women, who are three-time defending champions, have captured nine titles in 11 years. The men won eight of 16 events to win their second straight title and fifth overall.
