ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
Aug. 25: The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced that five members of the St. Lawrence University tennis programs earned ITA Scholar Athlete Awards for the 2007-08 season.
Amin Danai ’08 joined teammates Christopher Tamm ’10 and Ryan Gillard ’11 as recipients on the men’s side, while Chelsea Hubbell ’10 and Mackenzie Hall ’11 were honored on the women’s team. Danai became the first student in the program’s storied history to receive the honor four consecutive seasons.
“These five student athletes promote excellence both in the classroom and on the tennis court, and I’m extremely proud of their accolades,” said Saints head coach Jeremy Freeman.
To be eligible for ITA’s Scholar Athlete Award, students had to post a grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the 2007-08 academic year.

17th IN NORTHEAST REGION
June 6: The St. Lawrence University women’s tennis team, which qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season, finished the 2008 campaign ranked 17th in the Northeast Region of the ITA.
The Saints, who defeated SUNY New Paltz 5-0 in the national tournament before falling to Williams College by the same score, had a very impressive season that included a 15-5 record and Liberty League Rookie of the Year honors for Stephanie Finn.
“The ladies have a lot to be proud of after the 2007-2008 season,” added St. Lawrence University head tennis coach Jeremy Freeman. “To once again advance to the Second Round of the NCAA Championships is another step for our program. I hope that the experiences gained by this team will carry over to more success in 2008-2009.”
