SAINTS WIN IN NORTH
COUNTRY BATTLE
Oct. 4- St. Lawrence controlled the game on Sandy
MacAllaster field on a wet and miserable Saturday Upstate Collegiate
Athletic Association (UCAA) North Country match up against neighboring
rivals the Clarkson University Golden Knights.
The Saints, now 7-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in UCAA play, dominated
the game but were only able to come away with one goal.
Jen Giller scored an unassisted goal at the 21:33 mark of the
first period. The Saints out shot the Golden Knights 17-3 and had
seven corner kick opportunities while allowing the Knights only
one late in the second half.
Saints goalkeeper Carly Draper had two saves in the win while
Clarkson’s goalkeeper Lauren Arrendondo made eight saves
on the day.
The Saints will continue their UCAA play by traveling to Hamilton
and William Smith next weekend.
SAINTS SCORE ONE
IN LOSING EFFORT
Oct. 1- St. Lawrence and the visiting Cardinals from
the State University of Plattsburgh were tied at one point a piece
at the end of the first period but a pair of second half goals
gave the Cardinals their third straight win in six days while handing
the Saints their third loss in four games.
Nicole Lopez opened the scoring for the Saints14
minutes into the game off a pass from Jen Giller. Plattsburgh Katrina
Liska answered back with just under two minutes left of play time
in the first half to tie the game going into halftime.
Emily Hodgdon scored the game winning goal for the
Cardinals off a penalty kick at the 64:27 mark and ten minutes
later teammate Gena Rosenbaum scored an unassisted assurance goal.
The Saints will host Clarkson University this weekend
at noon.
