Head Coach Jodi Canfield
Most recently, Canfield guided the Scarlet and Brown to an 11-5 overall record and a 5-3 conference mark in 2008 that landed them in fourth place in the Liberty League, earning a spot in the Liberty League Tournament. Five players were named to the All-Conference team, including Kim Morse, who was named the Liberty League's Rookie of the Year. Six players received conference All-Academic accolades for their efforts in the classroom which helped the entire squad earn All-Academic status according to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaching Association.
Canfield graduated from St. Lawrence in 1991 and was a member of the NCAA runner-up squad in 1990, inducted into the St. Lawrence University Athletic Department Hall of Fame in the Fall of 2002. A multi-sport athlete, Canfield also played on the Saints tennis team. In addition, Jodi was an exemplary student-athlete being named Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year and inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honorary.
Canfield brings to the Saints an enthusiasm and desire for excellence in the sport of women's lacrosse and provides leadership and guidance to student-athletes within the community. She resides in Canton with her husband Gary as well as Lucy and Rudy, their Brittany Springer Spaniels.
Assistant Coach Mariah Casserly
Mariah Casserly, a four-time Empire 8 all league selection at Ithaca College, returns for a third year as St. Lawrence University’s assistant women’s lacrosse coach.
A Canton native and a graduate of Hugh C. Williams High School, Casserly is a 2005 graduate of Ithaca and taught physical education at Trumansburg, NY prior to joining the Saint staff. She also worked as a fitness trainer at the Ithaca YMCA.
Team captain of the Ithaca lacrosse team as a senior, she earned second team All Empire 8 honors as a freshman and sophomore and was a first-team selection in both her junior and senior seasons. She earned all NYSWCAA honors as well and became the 23 rd women’s lacrosse player in Ithaca history to reach 100 career points during her junior season. She finished her career with 122 goals and 21 assists for 143 points in four seasons.
A midfielder, Casserly was a member of Ithaca teams which twice won Empire 8 championships and played in the NCAA Division III championships.
