Mare MacDougall joined the Saints' staff in 2007-08 after serving as an assistant coach for four seasons at Wayne State University. The Lumsden, Saskatchewan native graduated Cum Laude from Mercyhurst College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History.
MacDougall helps with game and practice preparation, and oversees team strength and conditioning and video-coordinating. She also serves as an active recruiter and coaches the team's defensive unit.
MacDougall helped the Lakers capture back-to-back league championships in her two seasons at Mercyhurst, and earned CHA All-Academic honors her senior year. She was very involved in the Erie community, as she worked as a volunteer at an after-school program for at-risk children.
MacDougall also participated in the Olympic Oval High Performance Program in Calgary before joining the Lakers in 2001. While at the Oval, MacDougall had the opportunity to play and train along side some of the best female hockey players in Canada, and was a member of the 2001 National Championship Oval X-Treme Team. She also attended the University of Calgary, where she was the recipient of the Jimmie Condon Scholarship for academic and athletic excellence. MacDougall, setting a trend which she continued through her time at Wayne State, was involved in the community as a volunteer art education program instructor at the Glenbow Museum.
