SAINTS CONTINUE TO GROW AMONG NEW YORK STATE SOFTBALL POWERS

With five seasons of varsity competition under its belt, the Saint softball program continues to grow among New York State Division III programs.

The Saints are 84-62 in their first five seasons as a varsity program and have had four winning seasons in those five years as a varsity team. The Saints won back-to-back New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association championships in 2002 and 2003.

Playing in one of the finest Division III softball stadiums in the Northeast, the Saints went 4-3 at home with a young lineup and are 27-13 on their home field in their first five seasons.

It did not take the Saints long to establish some stars both on the field and in the classroom. Collette Dafoe, who was the nation's leader in triples as a senior, holds virtually all the Saint pitching records and was a Phi Beta Kappa member and honors graduate, while Meredith Eisenhut was the first player in Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association history to win Player of the Year honors in three sports in the same year and was a two-time UCAA Player of the Year. Eisenhut, who holds a majority of the Saint offensive records, was the winner of the 2002 ECAC-Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award for Division III and was also a Phi Beta Kappa member.

Junior Ashley Porter and sophomore Paige Truax were first team all Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association all stars in the 2004 season and first-year pitcher Ava Pickering earned second-team all UCAA honors.
