WELCOME..... The
Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course at St. Lawrence University welcomes you for an
outstanding summer of golf. Located in Canton, NY and adjoining
the campus of St. Lawrence University, the 18-hole par-72 layout covers 6694 yards
from the championship tees, 6310 from the whites, 5830 from the brown tees and
plays to a par 73 at 5430 yards from the red tees. Established
in 1926 with nine holes designed by Devereut Emmet, the course expanded it its
current 18 hole layout with the addition of a second nine holes designed by Geoffrey

pro shop and a snack bar catered by the neighboring Best Western University Inn.
We also invite you to visit the Golf Center at St. Lawrence
University, an indoor teaching, training and practice facility which is open to
the public during the winter months. Our staff welcomes daily
greens fees players and group outings. Golf packages are available in conjunction
with the Best Western University Inn. The St. Lawrence University
Golf Course is also home to the St. Lawrence Golf and Country Club which invites
area residents to join at reasonable rates and features many club tournaments
and functions. A Note from Mary Lawrence Welcome
to the 2003 golf season! I am very excited to be working with you. The changes
you will see include an efficient and cordial staff, enhanced playability of the
course, and expanded programs to promote the game of golf. Our
staff will bring back Lynn Lawrence and Sandy Fadden. Chris Wells is a welcome
new addition; he will be pursuing his P.G.A. card. The Best Western University
Inn will provide food and beverage service in the club house and on the course.
Their knowledge and expertise will compliment our facility. Superintendent
Jimmy Hennessey and his dedicated staff will focus on improving the playability
of the course. Course conditions will provide a challenge for the accomplished
player, yet be flexible enough for the novice to enjoy. Fairway margins will blend
with short rough to expedite speed of play. Our staff will
provide club fitting, club repair, instruction and a well-stocked pro shop with
all types of sportswear and golf equipment at competitive prices. We
will do our best to serve the needs of our members and guests. I look forward
