WHIFFLE BALL 

GENERAL RULES:

·         Scorer / Timer keeps score and determines hits, foul balls, strikes, outs, etc. 

·         Each team has three outs per inning

·         An out is defined as

o        A fly ball that is caught cleanly

o        3 strikes

o        5 fouls = an out

    • A ball that hits the ceiling, rafters, lights or anything that is directly attached to the ceiling with the exception of the white/green curtain will be an out. 
  • To be considered an out the ball must be fielded or caught clean.  If the ball is bobbled it is not considered an out.
  • A Bobble is defined as any ball once touched by a player that hits the ground, ceiling, or anything but a player, before it is caught.

·         A strike is defined as a swing and a miss OR when the pitch hits the designated strike zone. 

·         4 balls = a single

·         No automatic base for a pitcher hitting a batter

·         1st two fouls = strikes

·         Free substitution

·         Continuous batting order

 

TEAM:

·         You MUST have at least 5 people on the field (6 max)

  • Co-ed leagues must have at least 3 players of each sex on the field.  (Captains may agree to play with alternate arrangements with the approval of the IM commissioner.  These conditions must be agreed upon before the start of the game.).

·         You MUST have a pitcher AND a catcher

 

PITCHING:

  • Pitch to the other team
  • Once the pitcher is removed from the game they may not re-enter the game as pitcher.
  • The pitcher must stand 30 feet from half-court/sideline corner.

 

BASE RUNNING:

  • NO BASE RUNNING
  • Bases are determined by where the ball is hit
  • Any ball that initially lands on the curtain above the green (white section) = triple.
  • Any ball that initially lands on the curtain below the white (green section) = double.
  • If the ball lands within the regulation basketball court = a single
  • If the ball lands on the ground, outside of the regulation basketball court = a double
  • If the ball hits the backboard = Homerun.
  • Players must be forced home
  • 11 run limit per inning.

 

EQUIPMENT:

  • Only Intramural Program provided equipment will be allowed
  • No baseball gloves allowed.
