Murphy was outstanding both on the football field and in the classroom. He earned All-League Honorable Mention in 2007, while racking up an impressive academic resume. The Liverpool, NY native won six Academic Honor Awards, three President's Academic Achievement Awards and two Certificate of Merit Awards. Murphy was also a member of the National Honor Society.
