UNEARNED RUNS SNAP SAINT STREAK April 12: Five Saint errors led to five unearned runs as Plattsburgh State snapped a three game SLU win streak with a 6-3 win in baseball on Tuesday. Mike Gipson allowed just two hits in four innings, but was tagged for three unearned runs in the third and Plattsburgh picked up two more unearned runs in the eighth to cushion a lead after the Saints had pulled within one. Jeff DiGeronimo went two for three and drove in all three Saint runs while Jesse Emilo had two hits in four at bats. Plattsburgh, 13-7, scored three in the bottom of the third on two three errors and a two run single. The Saints got one back in the top of the sixth on singles by Jeff Silino and Emilo and DiGeronimo’s single through the shortstop hole. The Cardinals matched that run in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly and while the Saints scored tow in the top of the eighth on DiGeronimo’s two run double, Plattsburgh scored two unearned runs off Troy Lassial in the bottom of the inning to protect the lead. The Saints return to action at home against Clarkson in Liberty League action Friday at 1 p.m.
