Anyone with an account at North Country Savings Bank may cash checks at this branch in accordance with the bank's usual policies. St. Lawrence University students and employees may also cash personal checks of $200 or less with a current SLU Campus ID card. University payroll and travel/reimbursement checks may be cashed at this branch as well.

If a bank returns a personal check for insufficient funds or other reasons, the amount of the returned check and a $20 fee will be charged to the student or employee's account. The student or employee who presented the check will be immediately contacted for restitution. Until restitution of returned checks is made at the Student Financial Services Office, the privilege of cashing personal checks will be revoked. Accounts charged for returned checks are billed at the middle of each month and payment is due by the 10th of the following month. Monthly interest of 1% is assessed against all unpaid balances. Unpaid charges will be subject to the student account payment terms.

Checks will no longer be cashed for or accepted from individuals who have issued a returned check to the university on two separate occassions during an academic year. All future payments by such individuals to the university must be made by cash, money order, or cashier check.

If a returned check is a bank error, the $20 fee will be waived upon proof from the bank.
