The Alumni Council
St. Lawrence’s Alumni Council takes pride in its reputation on campus, with senior staff and with fellow alumni as one of the most effective and respected organizations of its kind. The group is comprised of 34 elected members and two to four student delegates, and has as its mission to serve as ambassadors of the University to its audiences, to serve the University in the areas of admissions, career services, development, events planning and communications, and to serve fellow alumni by providing alumni perspective to the University. Alumni consider themselves “Laurentians for Life,” cherishing the sense of community that is engendered at the University.

“The Council has been an excellent sounding board to the Trustees as well as senior staf f, faculty and the total alumni body. The Council president facilitates dialog by serving as a delegate to the Board of Trustees and preparing periodic reports for the Trustees’ review and presentation at each Trustee Board meeting. It is a tribute to the collective spirit and dedication to the University and the Council has become a well-regarded function of the University’s life. The Council is broad-based and has been recognized by many comparison schools as the model to emulate.” —Joseph Richardson ’63, GP’06 President of the Alumni Association, 2002-2004

“The attitude of shared vision between President Sullivan and the AEC is a significant component of the surge of quality and reputation enjoyed by SLU over the last eight years. I hope that any candidate for the position of President of SLU would both expect and encourage the continued spirit of shared vision between the University and its alumni.” —Jeffrey D. Honeywell ’80, P’10, President of the Alumni Association, 2004-2006

“I tell all new Council members this message: ‘Your service will matter. St. Lawrence has one of the strongest alumni councils in the nation and I know you’ll be an important part of maintaining that strength.’” —Alexandra Kirby Taylor ’89, President of the Alumni Association, 2006-2008
