Jack Taylor Award Nominations: The John P. "Jack" Taylor
Distinguished Career Service Award is given periodically to recognize distinguished
service
to the University by an administrator who has worked at St. Lawrence for
a minimum of 12 years and who sustains the high standards of performance
exemplified by Jack Taylor's long and distinguished service as director of
dining services. Its purpose is to recognize devotion to students and workmanship
of high quality in a well-respected member of the campus community. Nominations
should be sent to President Sullivan by May 10. The following list of those
administrative staff eligible to be nominated excludes the president and
senior staff, professional librarians (who are faculty), faculty who are
currently administrators but still have faculty status, and previous award
recipients.

The following students have received travel and research grants for the
summer and fall semester:

Vanessa de Bruyn ’05, North Bonneville, WA., will visit Beijing to
study the art and history of the city during her semester in Shanghai.

Kassandra Hardy ’05, Stillwater, NY, will explore the Jotunheimen National
Park in Norway while studying in Denmark.
•
Jonas Landes ’05, Marshallburg, NC, will explore New Zealand’s
backcountry hut system after his semester in New Zealand through ISEP.
•
Margaret Robinson ’06, Orleans, VT, will study environmental justice
organizations throughout the U.K. during her semester in London.
•
Amy Earl ’05, Acworth, NH, will collect Madrid’s reaction to
the March 11 bombings.
•
Theresa Hyland ’05, Lake Clear, NY, will study language nationalism
in the Galway region of Ireland.
•
Jenna Stearns ’06, Trumansburg, NY, will study adult literacy and popular
education in Spain.
•
Kathryn Courcy ’06, South Burlington, VT, and Jenevieve Johnson ’06,
Woodstock, VT, will study the meaning and tradition of the Celtic cross in
Ireland.
