Announcements
National Foreign Language Week is March 1-7. In celebration, faculty and staff who speak foreign languages have been invited to place signs on their office doors and windows indicating what language(s) they speak. I-House will show international films; please watch for signs and notices with more details. On Wednesday, a special edition of Poetry for Peace at 4:30 p.m. in the Laurentian Room of the Student Center will focus on poems in different languages. Career services and CIIS will team up at noon on Thursday in the Laurentian Room to present students with some options and ideas about how to look for international work and/or volunteer experiences. A wine and cheese tasting in the Polyglot (Carnegie 208) will provide faculty who teach European content the chance to meet the modern language faculty and learn about St. Lawrence’s European programs. Men’s Ice Hockey Playoffs: At press time it had not been determined whether St. Lawrence would host first-round playoff games on the weekend of March 5-7. Squash National Championships: The College Squash Association Individual National Championships take place in Robie Squash Center and Leithead Field House Friday through Sunday, March 5-7. Some 64 of the top men's and 64 top women's collegiate squash players in the country will be on campus. For information: 5421 or www.stlawu.edu/sports/.

Artist in Residence: Artist Kalsang Tsering Sherpa will be in residence on campus March 1-12, creating a thankga painting in Richard F. Brush Art Gallery. For information: 5192.

Modern Languages Honoraries: Applications are now being received from students eligible for the French, German and Spanish honoraries. Qualifications vary. Candidates should leave their names with Mary Lloyd, Carnegie 316, phone 5154. Deadline for applications is March 12, 2004.

ODK Applications: Sophomores, juniors and seniors in the top third of their class are invited to apply for membership in Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the national leadership honor society recognizing leadership, exemplary character and citizenship. Applications are available at the Information Desk of the Student Center, and on the ODK Web page, http://www.stlawu.edu/odk/odk.htm, or by contacting Peg Cornwell at pcornwell@stlawu.edu. Applications, along with a faculty recommendation, are due March 24 at noon in Room 238 of the Student Center. Award Nomination: Nominations for three awards that are presented at Moving-Up Day are due March 12. Senior Awards: Nominations are being accepted for the Douglas M. Brown Senior Award, given by the Alumni Executive Council to a senior woman and man in recognition of a well-rounded academic and co-curricular experience at St. Lawrence. Safety Committee Meeting: Meetings of the Safety Committee are open to all members of the campus community. The first few minutes of each meeting are reserved for anyone to address the committee regarding any safety issues or concerns. Next meeting is Tuesday, March 2, at 3 p.m. in Noble Center 226.

Lunch Bunch: Laurentian Women's Association Lunch Bunch meets on the first Wednesday of each month in the Eben Holden Conference Room (note new location). Remaining dates for the spring semester are March 3, April 7 and May 5. Reservations must be made by noon the preceding day with Mickey Williams, 386-8781.
