Announcements
Boo-Boo Bear Project: Members of the Behind the Seams theme hall and Costume Shop student workers are making 60 teddy bears to donate to children in area hospitals. They seek assistance in two forms: donations of redeemable containers, the proceeds from which are the sole source of funds for the project; and help making the bears through 8 p.m. on Monday, December 16. Safety Committee Meeting: Meetings of the Safety Committee are open to all members of the campus community. The first few minutes of each meeting are reserved for anyone to address the committee regarding any safety issues or concerns. Next meeting is Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 3 p.m. in the E.J. Noble University Center, Room 222.

Climbing Wall Hours: During finals week, the Munro Climbing Wall will be open Monday-Thursday, 5-9 p.m. The wall will be closed from Friday, December 20, through Sunday, January 18.

Lunch Bunch: Laurentian Women's Association Lunch Bunch meets on the first Wednesday of each month in the E.J. Noble University Center Formal Lounge. Dates for the spring semester are Feb. 5, March 5, April 2 and May 7. Reservations must be made by noon the preceding day with Mickey Williams, 386-8781.

Retirees Luncheons: University retirees gather on the second Tuesday of each month in the E.J. Noble University Center Formal Lounge for lunch. Dates for the spring semester are February 11, March 11, April 8 and May 13. Reservations must be made by noon the preceding day with Mickey Williams, 386-8781, or Wanda Renick, 386-3474.

Achievements
Eleven students have been awarded travel grants to assist with costs incurred while conducting research during the spring 2003 semester:
· Travis Atkinson '04, Harrisville, NY, will be studying in France and has received a grant for adventure travel and personal discovery, allowing him to visit various museums and historical sites.
·Lucas Buckingham '04, Lisbon, NY, will be studying in Kenya and has received a grant to make a photo documentary of glacial retreat on Mt. Kilimanjaro.
· Amanda Goodman '05, Woodmere, NY, will be studying in London and has received a grant to study "National Identity via Photo Elicitation."
· April Rolfe '06, Ogdensburg, NY, will be studying in France and has received a grant to travel to Madrid, Spain.
·Emily Stahl '05, Moriah, NY, will be studying in Austria and has received a grant to travel to St. Petersburg, Russia, to research the history of the city and the Romanov family.
· Marisa Zarczynski '06, New York, NY, will be studying in France and has received a grant to visit various museums in France.
·Minerva Arias '03, New York, NY, has received a grant to study current feminist thought among Puerto Rican women intellectuals and activists.
·Katie Cerretani '03, Liverpool, NY, has received a grant to study ecotourism and sustainable farming communities in Costa Rica.
· Ivaylo Kolev '05, Sophia, Bulgaria, received a grant to study the decentralization of the economy in Eastern Europe. He will conduct research and interviews in Bulgaria and the Czech Republic.
·Molly Lemke '03, Manchester Center, VT, received a grant to study economic development and environmental sustainability as practiced in Tanzanian communities.
· Sara Mogilski '03, Essex Junction, VT, received a grant to study women's changing roles in the Moroccan parliamentary system.
