Fitness Classes: The Spring 2004 Session I Fitness Class calendar is posted on the Fitness Club Web site, http://www.stlawu.edu/sports/fitness%20center/multipurpose%20sp%2004.html. Classes begin January 26 and will run for six weeks. New classes this spring: Intermediate Line Dancing, Step Aerobics, ClimbinGroovin, Snowshoeing, Cross Country Skiing. Martial Arts Instruction: Basic and advanced karate will be offered in classes beginning on Monday, January 26, at 5:30 p.m. in the Newell Multipurpose Room. Safety Committee Meeting: Meetings of the Safety Committee are open to all members of the campus community. The first few minutes of each meeting are reserved for anyone to address the committee regarding any safety issues or concerns. Next meeting is Wednesday, January 28, at 3 p.m. in E. J. Noble University Center 225.

Lunch Bunch: Laurentian Women's Association Lunch Bunch meets on the first Wednesday of each month in the E.J. Noble University Center Formal Lounge. Dates for the spring semester are February 4, March 3, April 7 and May 5. Reservations must be made by noon the preceding day with Mickey Williams, 386-8781.

Retirees Luncheons: University retirees gather on the second Tuesday of each month in the E.J. Noble University Center Formal Lounge for lunch. Dates for the spring semester are February 10, March 9, April 13 and May 11. At the February 10 meeting, Sally Vrooman will speak about the Liberty Partnership Program, in which she is involved. Achievements
Associate Professor of Physics Aileen A. O'Donoghue is among the scientists who have been at work on an extensive survey of stellar activity in nearby solar-type stars, the results of which were reported at the recent meeting of the American Astronomical Society. This report is of special interest, as it may provide information about the behavior of the sun in both the past and the future. Also listed as a researcher in the survey is Emily R. Knox '03.
