Poetry Prize: The 2005 James L. Price III Memorial Contest in Poetry is open to all undergraduate students. Poems should be delivered to Albert Glover, English (for information: aglover@stlawu.edu or 5135), before Tuesday, April 5, at 4 p.m.

Alternative Energy Bus: The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) bus, fueled by vegetable oil and solar power, will be on campus on Thursday, April 7. It will be open to the public 10 a.m.-4 p.m. near the Student Center.

Student Art Exhibition: The Barnes Endowment Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition will be on display at the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery, April 13-June 6. All St. Lawrence students are eligible to enter up to four works of art in any media on Tuesday, April 5, noon-5 p.m., and Wednesday, April 6, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The exhibition will open on Wednesday, April 13, at 7 p.m., featuring live music with Blue Clover. Nominations for Faculty Awards: Nominations for the Maslow and Keene awards should be submitted to Grant H. Cornwell, Dean of Academic Affairs, Vilas Hall 103, or by e-mail (grantcornwell@stlawu.edu or acadean@stlawu.edu) by April 8. Nominations should consist of a letter and any supporting evidence which speaks to the nominee’s fulfillment of the award’s criteria. The Maslow Award is made to a member of the faculty who has shown “the most interest in and understanding of the education and welfare of the student body as a whole.” The Keene Award is made to a faculty member who demonstrates “high standards of personal scholarship, effective teaching, and moral concern.”

Communications Internships: Writing-intensive internships are available for next semester in University communications. The internships earn credit, normally as English 409. For information, contact Neal Burdick, nburdick@stlawu.edu or 5560, before the start of the pre-registration period.

North Country Symposium: The third annual North Country Symposium on Education, Environment and Economic Vitality, formerly the Burt Symposium, is scheduled for Thursday, April 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Eben Holden. Lunch Bunch: Laurentian Women's Association Lunch Bunch meets one Wednesday per month at noon in the Eben Holden Conference Room. Remaining dates for the spring semester are April 6 and May 4. Reservations must be made by noon the preceding day with Mickey Williams, 386-8781. Lunch Bunch is open to all women faculty and staff and wives of faculty and staff, including retirees.

Retirees Luncheons: University retirees gather for lunch one Tuesday a month at noon in the Eben Holden Conference Room. Remaining dates for the spring semester are April 12 and May 10. At the April 12 meeting, Susan Kramer, Education, will speak on “The North Country Symposium.” Reservations must be made by noon the preceding day with Mickey Williams, 386-8781, or Wanda Renick, 386-3474.
