Assistant Director of Financial Aid

St. Lawrence University seeks nominations and applications to fill the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid.  This individual will assist in the administration of university, federal, and state financial aid programs while supporting the overall admissions and retention goals of the University.

The Assistant Director will counsel prospective and current students and parents concerning financial aid, participate in aid application review including need analysis and verification, represent the University and the financial aid office at special events and programs both on- and off-campus, assist with the coordination of the student employment program, perform day-to-day electronic financial aid processing using federal aid and University systems, provide specific project/program support for the Senior Assistant Director and Director of Financial Aid, and complete projects/duties as assigned.

Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position.  Individuals must be detail-oriented, accurate with numbers and calculations, and have the ability to be successful in a fast-paced office atmosphere.  Evening and weekend work required during recruitment and aid packaging season.  Knowledge of Word, Excel and Access preferred.  Bachelor’s degree required and experience in financial aid or related field is highly desirable.
