SLU HOSTING 'AIDS-AID' BENEFIT CONCERT

CANTON - St. Lawrence University's Amnesty International chapter will hold a benefit concert called "AIDS-aid" on Friday, February 3, from 5 p.m. to midnight in the Winston Room of the Student Center. There is no fee for admission, but donations are welcome, with 75 percent of the proceeds going to the AIDS Community Resources of Northern New York and 25 percent to the South Africa Ubuntu Project.

The event will feature performances by Hollywood Farm, the Singing Sinners, the Singing Saints, the University's Gospel Choir, the Laurentian Singers, the SLU Dance Team and other student and faculty musicians.

The South Africa Ubuntu Project builds partnerships with communities across the U.S. and in South Africa to provide resources and support for communities that are affected by HIV/AIDS. On Thursday, February 2, project founder the Rev. LaDonna Sanders, of Chicago, will give a lecture and spoken-word performance at 7:30 p.m. in Herring-Cole. It is open to the public, free of charge.

For more information, contact Associate Chaplain Shaun Whitehead, at 315-229-5062.
