The recent annual meeting of the Geological Society of America, held in Salt Lake City October 16-20, included St. Lawrence faculty, students and alumni presenting research.

Among the presentations were a poster on research conducted in North Dakota by Trisha Smrecak '06, of Munger, MI, Chapin Professor of Geology J. Mark Erickson; Matthew Burton-Kelly '05 and John Hoganson; and a paper on "Protection, Development and Education in Chinese Geoparks," by Assistant Professor of Geology Stephen Robinson, Camille Partin '06, of Bedford, NH, and Ben Meade '06, of Amherst, NH. Stephanie Peek '06, of Lewiston, NY, also attended the meeting. All five current faculty members gave presentations.

The meeting also included a reception for St. Lawrence alumni; 17 graduates of the University joined faculty, students and friends, including Emeritus Professor of Geography Bill Romey, to share information and network. Among the attendees were Andrew Fountain '75 and Charlie Kerans '77.

Meeting participants also took a field trip to Great Salt Lake during the event, and returned to campus with soil and water samples for further study.
