Six outstanding St. Lawrence students have been selected to participate in the inaugural Admissions Summer Internship Program, where they will have multiple opportunities to take part in the recruitment process for future students.

The interns were chosen from 33 candidates who completed an extensive application process, with 12 finalists selected for multi-stage interviews. Each finalist prepared a brief presentation and interviewed with a team of senior students, a group of admissions counselors and the Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Terry Cowdrey. Finalists are Graham Gauthier '07, of Canton, NY; John Gursky '07, of Baldwinsville, NY; Tim Morse '07, of Copenhagen, NY; Michaela Stewart '08, of Averill Park, NY; Danielle Weaver '07, of Jamestown, NY; and Lora Wu '07, of Litchfield, CT.

Interns' responsibilities include leading campus tours, making personal contacts with prospective students and facilitating online chats. The internship will also include meetings with the University's Senior Staff and undertaking projects such as analyzing the international database, providing feedback on the admissions and financial aid Web site, developing new recruitment initiatives and participating in an environmental analysis of the admissions office. The internship will incorporate a series of workshops on a variety of topics that have an impact upon the admissions, recruitment and selection processes, including the admissions calendar, territory management, travel planning, publications and marketing, interviews and application review.
