Off-Campus Access to Electronic Content
To access any electronic content available on the St. Lawrence University Libraries web presence from off campus, SLU Community members should use SLU's Virtual Private Network (VPN) client. SLU's VPN client provides access to all on campus work spaces—public drives such as S, P, and T, software, and folders on the hard drive of an office computer—and by virtue of this provides access to all of the electronic content made available through the library. This means content made available through ODYsseus, Journal Finder, online dictionaries and encyclopedias, or any of the Indexes and Databases on the web site. Complete instructions for downloading and installing the VPN client onto a home computer are available from the Information Technology web site, under Resources and VPN Home Access. On this page there are also recommendations for seeking technical help with the VPN client from IT.
If you cannot run a VPN client on your machine, or in the circumstance where you are off campus, you can search many of our databases and much of our electronic content here. You will need to key in your name and campus ID number (as they appear on your SLU ID Card) when prompted.
Questions related to accessing electronic journals, other content from the library web site, or other options for interlibrary loan can be directed to Paul Doty, Electronic Services Librarian (229-5483, pdoty@stlawu.edu).
