Linking Directly to Articles in Databases
Two of our information vendors provide stable links to articles in databases, and a third provides URLS (web page addresses) for searches. So, in the case of JSTOR and FirstSearch, you can link from ANGEL or "home grown" web syllabi directly to articles, and in the case of Ebscohost you can link directly to the results of a search.
JSTOR
After running a search in JSTOR, select a record. Above the text of the article and underneath the red JSTOR toolbar, there is a link for CITATION/STABLE URL. To create a link to the article, click
this link, which will open a page with a citation for the article and a Stable URL (longer than your arm). Cut and paste the Stable URL into ANGEL or another web location and it will create a link to the article.
FirstSearch
Having run a search in one of the FirstSearch databases (almost half our databases are FirstSearch databases), click the Full Text link for the citation you want. Once the full text is open, look toward the upper right of the screen for the LINK PICKUP button.
Click on the button, there will be a screen with the citation for the article, and two links. Enter your e-mail address in the appropriate box, and the information on the screen will be sent to you in the body of an e-mail. Cut and paste the IP-address recognition URL into ANGEL or another web location and it will create a link to the article.
EbscoHost
Having run a search in one of our EbscoHost databases (they include Academic Search and PsychInfo) you will see, above the results lists, a Display link to this search hyperlink
. Click the link for a URL for the search that you have run; you cannot link directly to articles, but you can cut and paste this URL to create a link to the results of a search.
