Volunteers are needed as:
Client Advocates:
Provide office coverage, answer phones, greet
clients organize files and documentation, and other basic office
projects. Provide counseling to victims of domestic violence(adults
and children), accompany clients to court appointments, participate
in crisis intervention (on-call), assist with the Children/Youth
Program and assist in transportation.
Community Educators:
Assist in preparation and implementation of
educational presentations in the community and at special functions,
including booths, health and career fairs, etc. Distribute
agency brochures and posters throughout St. Lawrence County.
Organize Educational materials for the agency. Organize fundraising
activities and donations.
Residential Services:
Provide emotional support for clients, provide
child care/child recreation, access information on housing
options, and assist in setting short-term and long-term goals.
Volunteers will be trained on Sunday, September
25 from 9 am - 3 pm.
Time commitment per volunteer = 5 hours per week
minimum. Volunteers are needed during office hours, 8 am-5
pm during the semester. Some hours are available in the evenings
and on weekends.
The house is located within walking distance
of SLU, though, depending on the job needed, transportation
may be required.
