The Integrated Science Education Initiative (ISEI) at St. Lawrence University is an interdisciplinary science education initiative designed to introduce students to the culture of doing science within the Little River Nature Area, a tract of land adjacent to our campus. The data derived from student and faculty projects is being compiled and will be stored in a long-term natural history data repository that is shared via the Internet and over the campus network. The data allows the investigation of spatial and temporal variation on the reserve and demonstrates the inter-relatedness of science disciplines.
The ISEI Program has two main goals:
1. Have students doing “real world” science using the campus and surrounding area as study sites.
2. Have students and faculty build a long-term, interdisciplinary database to be shared on campus and with the global community via the internet.
