Kathryn
Poethig is an Assistant Professor of Global Studies at St. Lawrence University,
NY. She has a B.A. from University of Chicago, an M.Div. from Union
Theological Seminary, (New York) in feminist theology and ecumenics and
a Ph.D.in Religion and Society from the Graduate Theological Union, (Berkeley).
She has worked for 15 years in refugee programs in the US and Southeast
Asia and her dissertation "Ambivalent Moralities: Cambodian Americans as
Dual Citizens in Phnom Penh" applied postmodern and transnational theory
to the moral discourses of Cambodian Americans returning to work in post-socialist
Cambodia. Her current research is concerned with the globalization of such
moral discourses (transnational feminisms, human rights, liberation theologies).
