Global Studies Forum

In response to the continuing events in the Middle East, the Global Studies Department held a special public forum titled "Conflict in Israel/Palestine: Power, Protest, and Policy" on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 in Hepburn Auditorium. The forum featured an historical overview by Hibba Abugideiri (Jeffrey Campbell Fellow in Gender Studies), and a faculty panel discussion followed by an extensive period for audience comment and discussion.  Panelists included John Collins (Global Studies), Judith DeGroat (Gender Studies), Michael Greenwald (Religious Studies) and Assis Malaquias (Government).  Eve Stoddard (Global Studies) hosted the event, and Kathryn Poethig (Global Studies) served as moderator.  This forum was the first in what will be an occasional series of events designed to promote public discussion on pressing global issues.
